3rd Arabic language Olympics, The symposuim (Arabic language current affairs in Japan, education and the needs of the market), and graduation ceremony for the 6th & 7th groups of graduates and award-winning ceremony
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Japan celebrated in 2005 the 50th anniversary of
diplomatic relations between the two countries . As part of the efforts to
further enhance cultural exchange between Japan and the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia, the Arabic Islamic institute in Tokyo – with the cooperation of
Universities, academic institutions and media apparatus - holds the 3rd
Arabic language Contest among the students, following the successful First
contest which was held in February 8, 2004 under the patronage of the
Japanese Minister of Environment, and the Director of Imam Mohammed bin Saud
University, with the presence of members of the diplomatic corps, and the
second contest which was held in November 19,2005 under the auspicious of
the Vice Governor of Tokyo and the Director of Imam Mohammed bin Saud
University.
The function aimed at achieving
the following:
- Enhancing cultural exchanges between Japan, the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab world.
- Emphasizing the status of the institute as a bastion of Arabic language in Japan
- Supporting common programs and public relations between the Institute and Japanese Universities.
- Supporting the process of teaching Arabic language in Japan.
- Developing the skills of Arabic language students in Japan.

On the other hand, the Arabic Islamic Institute in Tokyo has launched on Saturday May 27, 2006, the 3rd Arabic language Contest, and the scientific symposium on the current affairs of the Arabic language in Japan, education and the needs of the labor market, a graduation ceremony for the 6th & 7th groups of graduates.
The program consisted of the following:

(10 – 11 pm) Contest of Arabic printing.

(11;15 – 12; 15)Contest of Arabic calligraphy.

Dhuhr prayers and lunch.

(14;15 – 15;45)Contest of oration.

At the end of the symposium the participants put forward the following recommendations:
-
Establishing a society under the name of ( The Arabic language society in Japan) with the Institute taking the lead in this initiative.

Holding symposia and workshops rotationally to discuss ways and means of promoting methods of teaching Arabic language to non-Arabic speakers (Japanese).
-
Funding and supporting the researches related to the methods of teaching Arabic Language in Japan.
-
Devising special test to assess Arabic language capabilities.
-
Emphasizing the necessity of promoting the teaching of classic Arabic language in the Japanese Universities.
-
Designing educational programs related to Arabic language in a way that enables student to sharpen their computer skills such as printing, typing as well as designing .
-
Taking advantage of the modern technology to develop a mechanism of learning Arabic language from distance by providing subjects to be registered as part of the students studying hours in the Japanese Universities.

Allocating a number of seats & scholarships in the Saudi Universities for distinguished students of Arabic language from the Institute and other Japanese
academic institutions.

The graduation ceremony & honoring of the graduates under the patronage of H.E Shinzo Abe, the Chief Cabinet Secretary, who represented the Japanese side, and H.E Iwaai , second director of the second division of Africa & the Middle East in the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who delivered speech as a representative of both the host of the ceremony and the Japanese government. H.E Dr. Mohammed bin Hassan Alzeer gave an opening statement on the occasion which was attended by H.E Fisal Hassan Tarad, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques ,who delivered a speech. The ceremony was also attended by D. Ibrahiem bin Abdullah Al-Saadan, Dean of the students affairs overseas, on behalf of H.E D. Mohammed bin Saad Al-Salim, the Director of Imam University.The audience included a large number of Saudi students ,and prominent Japanese and Saudi figures from the diplomatic & scientific circles, most notably among them were Honorable Abdalaziz Altwigri & Naif Almitiri , members of the Saudi Consultative Council. A souvenir shield was presented to the host.
